\u201cWe are thrilled that Betsy Huber has joined the Alliance\nBoard of Directors,\u201d said Ed Bolen, President and CEO of the National Business\nAviation Association (NBAA) and the President of the Alliance\u2019s Board of\nDirectors. \u201cBetsy brings a wealth of invaluable experience and perspectives on\nbehalf of rural communities and our agricultural sector, which rely extensively\non general aviation, local airports, and our aviation infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Huber has been President of the National Grange since 2015.\nPreviously she was on the National Grange\u2019s executive committee from 2007-14.\nHuber also serves on the board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture\u2019s program\nSafety in Agriculture for Youth and as Executive Secretary of the Pennsylvania\nYoung Farmers Association. In 2017, she\nwas appointed to the Federal Communications Commission\u2019s Broadband Deployment\nAdvisory Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Huber has also served as a Trustee of The Pennsylvania State\nUniversity from 2005-17 and served 24 years as a Supervisor of Upper Oxford\nTownship in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was born and raised on a dairy\nfarm in Chester County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the\nAlliance for Aviation Across America,\u201d Huber said. \u201cGeneral aviation is\ncritical for agriculture, access to services like medical care and disaster\nrelief, our nation\u2019s food supply, and the economy as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many agricultural operators use general aviation to\ntransport goods, personnel, and oversee and treat crops and land. There are about 5,000 public-use airports in\ntowns across the country, yet the majority of airline traffic goes through 30 of\nthem. All told, general aviation supports over 1.1 million jobs and over $246\nbillion in economic impact, according to a 2018 PricewaterhouseCoopers study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Huber continued, \u201cAs our nation continues to recover, we are\nalso pleased to support the commitments of the general aviation industry in\ncritical areas of growth, such as the development and use of sustainable fuel\nand emerging technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, the\nGrange, and many other national and local groups partnered to launch\nfutureofaviation.org, which highlights the importance of general aviation and\nthe benefits of the development and use of sustainable fuel and potential new\ntechnologies, such as vertical and landing aircraft, which have the potential\nto transport goods and people between rural and urban areas in a more efficient\nmanner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Grange strengthens individuals, families, and\ncommunities through grassroots action, service, education, advocacy, and\nagriculture awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA) is a\nnonpartisan, nonprofit, national grassroots coalition of over 6,000 aviation\nand non-aviation groups and individuals across the country, including\nbusinesses, FBOs, small airports, elected officials, agricultural and charitable\norganizations, and leading industry and aviation groups.
