{"id":20755,"date":"2022-01-25T03:49:29","date_gmt":"2022-01-25T03:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20755"},"modified":"2022-01-25T03:49:31","modified_gmt":"2022-01-25T03:49:31","slug":"nbaa-releases-guidance-for-new-sustainable-flight-department-accreditation-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/district-of-columbia\/nbaa-releases-guidance-for-new-sustainable-flight-department-accreditation-program\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Releases Guidance for New Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced\nthe release of guidance documents for its new Sustainable Flight Department\nAccreditation Program, which identifies business aviation entities who meet\nexceptional environmental sustainability standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\u2019s goal is to further advance a sustainability\nculture in the business aviation community by encouraging participants to think\nand act critically and implement as many sustainability strategies as possible,\nwhile recognizing the diversity of business aviation operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation program\ncreates a mechanism for members to align with their overall corporate\nstrategy,\u201d said Stewart D\u2019Leon, NBAA director, environmental and technical\noperations. \u201cIt gives them an avenue to work towards sustainability and be\nacknowledged for the work they are doing by having a third party, NBAA, audit\nand verify the information they are presenting. The program also provides a\npath for members who are just getting started in the sustainability effort.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program contains guidance documents for each of the\nfollowing four program accreditations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Flight<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Flight Accreditation is focused on reducing\nenvironmental impact as a result of conducting flights (e.g., carbon and other\nemissions) and creating efficiencies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Operations Accreditation is focused on\noptimizing a sustainability culture with an emphasis on the carbon emissions as\na result of personnel air travel and implementation of environmental programs\n(e.g., recycling, reduction of resources).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ground Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Ground Support Accreditation is focused on\nimplementing sustainable strategies related to equipment and vehicles that\nsupport the business aviation entity operations (e.g., aircraft tugs, business\naviation entity owned\/leased vehicles).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Infrastructure Accreditation is focused on\nadvancing sustainability through physical infrastructures (e.g., hangars,\nfacilities).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The application period for the NBAA Sustainable Flight\nDepartment Accreditation Program is set to open early February and close March\n31.
