Glenn Youngkin has appointed Greg Campbell as the\nDirector of the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV). His first day at the\nagency \u2013 based at Richmond International Airport \u2013 will be February 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Greg-Campbell.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20724\" width=\"343\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Greg-Campbell.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Greg-Campbell-300x231.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><figcaption><em>Greg Campbell<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Campbell has served as Executive Director of the Shenandoah\nValley Regional Airport (SHD) since 1992. He is certified member of the\nAmerican Association of Airport Executives and a past president of the Virginia\nAirport Operators\u2019 Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am excited to be the next director of the Department of\nAviation,\u201d said Campbell. \u201cI have worked closely with the professional staff\nthere for more than 30 years, and I look forward to leading them in the mission\nto meet the transportation needs of Virginians; grow local communities through\neconomic development; serve the 66 public-use airports across the state; assist\nin workforce development; and support the $22.9 billion aviation industry in\nthe Commonwealth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Virginia Aviation Board Chairman Rod Hall said, \u201cI commend\nGovernor Youngkin on a superb choice for director of the Virginia Department of\nAviation.&nbsp; Greg Campbell is a respected aviation practitioner and a real\nleader committed to advancing aviation across the Commonwealth.&nbsp; I have no\ndoubt he will continue to build upon the many successes the agency has amassed\nduring its 94-year history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As SHD\u2019s Executive Director, Campbell promoted commercial\nair service for the Shenandoah Valley; led the Airport Commission\u2019s 25\nemployees; and oversaw all aspects of business and air service development,\nmarketing, operations, public safety, finance, planning and capital\nimprovements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greg has passionately served his community over the years.\nHe is a past president of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce;\nformer chairman of the Shenandoah Valley Partnership; and recently served as a\nboard member on Go Virginia Region 8. Campbell was named Airport Manager of the\nYear in 1996; was selected as Aviation Person of the Year in 2012; and was awarded\nthe James Madison University Public Servant Award in 2013. He earned a\nbachelor\u2019s degree in political science from Bridgewater College.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
