She will be retiring at the end\nof February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA President and CEO, Ed Bolen said, \u201cTeri has been a\nthoughtful, dedicated professional who has moved our industry forward. We are\ngrateful for her leadership, and we wish her all the best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Teri-Bristol.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20611\" width=\"125\" height=\"190\"\/><figcaption><em>Teri Bristol<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As a champion for continued development of the nation\u2019s Next\nGeneration (\u201cNextGen\u201d) Aviation System, Bristol has led the FAA\u2019s NextGen Executive\nBoard and NextGen Advisory Committee. Bristol has also been an advocate and\nrole model for women, having been the first woman to hold her current\nleadership position, and the first woman to hold her previous three positions.\nShe has been instrumental in FAA efforts to recruit and retain women and\nminorities to key positions in air traffic control, and across the agency.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTeri has always respected aviation safety professionals working at all levels of the ATO and the unions that represent them,\u201d NATCA President Rich Santa said. \u201cShe had a very successful career at the FAA, and for the last decade \u2013 first in her role as deputy COO and then COO since 2014 \u2013 NATCA has been privileged to partner with her. She is a strong, inspiring leader for whom we have great respect.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe success of our collaborative relationship with the FAA over the last dozen years is a shining model for the federal government and has been built on trust and integrity,&#8221; continued Santa. &#8220;Teri demonstrated those positive traits and many more. We are proud of the incredible work we accomplished together for the benefit of the safety of the National Airspace System and the employees who safeguard it. We thank her for her leadership. We will miss working with her, and we wish her the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One example of Bristol\u2019s commitment to the air traffic\ncontroller and aviation safety professional workforce was her steadfast support\nof NATCA\u2019s annual Archie League Medal of Safety Awards. Named for the first\nU.S. air traffic controller, the awards honor the best controller saves of\npilots in emergency situations. Bristol attended every Archie League Medal of\nSafety Awards banquet, held at NATCA\u2019s annual Communicating For Safety\nconference, during her term as COO. She delivered keynote remarks to begin the\nawards banquets in both 2018 and 2019, focusing on training and supporting the\nnext generation of controllers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6088edit2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20612\" width=\"333\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6088edit2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6088edit2-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><figcaption><em>Bristol at NBAA in Orlando in 2016.
