The Museum will formally announce its official new\nname later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/CAM-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20608\" width=\"348\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CAM-edit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CAM-edit-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><figcaption><em>Visitor Center Entrance <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon reopening in 2023, the Smithsonian affiliate will also\nbecome home to a permanent exhibit honoring the captain and crew of the flight,\nincluding the \u201cMiracle on the Hudson\u201d airplane, which previously attracted more\nthan 74,000 visitors to the Museum annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am forever indebted to Captain Sully and the crew of US\nAirways Flight 1549 for my second chance at life, and, for 13 years, I have\nbeen determined to find a way to honor them,\u201d said Red Ventures CEO and crash\nsurvivor Ric Elias, who personally donated $1M toward the Museum\u2019s re-opening,\nalongside a $500,000 donation from Lonely Planet, a Red Ventures brand. \u201cHeroes\nare made long before the day they are called to action. This museum will serve\nas an enduring tribute to the preparation, courage and dedication of the\ncaptain and the entire crew.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This gift brings funding for CAM\u2019s Lift-Off Campaign to over\n$11 million, nearly halfway to its goal of $25 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The renamed and revamped museum will feature a new main\ngallery, visitor center, plaza, and newly restored historic hangar as well as\ndozens of aircrafts and interactive cockpits, flight simulators, and historic\nartifacts that chronicle our region\u2019s indelible connection to the wonder of\nflight and aviation innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Museum will also highlight STEM\/aviation and aerospace\nprogramming that connects students to the explosion of STEM career\nopportunities.
