{"id":20534,"date":"2022-01-09T21:48:32","date_gmt":"2022-01-09T21:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20534"},"modified":"2022-01-09T21:49:52","modified_gmt":"2022-01-09T21:49:52","slug":"allegiant-announces-purchase-of-50-boeing-737-aircraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/allegiant-announces-purchase-of-50-boeing-737-aircraft\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Allegiant Announces Purchase of 50 Boeing 737 Aircraft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT) announced an\nagreement with Boeing to purchase 50 new 737 MAX aircraft as part of the\nairline&#8217;s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The multi-year deal \u2013 Boeing&#8217;s first with an ultra-low-cost\ncarrier in the United States \u2013 includes the purchase of 737-7 and 737-8-200\nmodels, as well as options to purchase 50 additional aircraft, giving the\ncompany flexibility for future growth. Allegiant will take delivery of an\ninitial group of planes in 2023, with the remaining deliveries scheduled\nthroughout 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our approach to fleet has always been opportunistic,\nand this exciting transaction with Boeing is no exception,&#8221; said Maurice\nJ. Gallagher, Jr., Allegiant chairman and chief executive officer. &#8220;While\nthe heart of our strategy continues to center on previously-owned aircraft, the\ninfusion of up to 100 direct-from-the-manufacturer 737s will bring numerous\nbenefits for the future \u2013 including flexibility for capacity growth and\naircraft retirements, significant environmental benefits, and modern\nconfiguration and cabin features our customers will appreciate.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Allegiant-Air.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20538\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Allegiant&#8217;s unique ULCC business model has been primarily\nfocused on high quality used aircraft to maintain lower fixed costs. However,\nthe pandemic recovery cycle has brought to Allegiant unique opportunities to\nacquire new equipment, including this aircraft-family solution, which will add\nsignificant economic and operational benefits for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrangement with Boeing will allow Allegiant to replace\naircraft that are scheduled to retire while also expanding the fleet to\nmaintain the company&#8217;s projected 10 percent-plus annual growth rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled that Allegiant has selected Boeing and\nthe 737 MAX as they position themselves for future growth, improved efficiency\nand operational cost performance,&#8221; said Stan Deal, Boeing Commercial\nAirplanes president and CEO. &#8220;This deal further validates the economics of\nthe 737 MAX family in the ULCC market, and we&#8217;re excited to stand alongside\nAllegiant as they integrate these new airplanes into their fleet.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Boeing 737s come equipped with several innovative\nin-cabin features \u2013 such as Boeing Sky Interior and Space Bins \u2013 that create a\nfeeling of spaciousness, provide more leg room and make storing and retrieving\ncarry-on luggage easier for passengers. Additionally, the new aircraft will\nburn approximately 20 percent less fuel than older Airbus A320 family\naircraft.&nbsp; while also offering increased\nseating capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aircraft will be powered with CFM LEAP 1-B engines.\nAllegiant has signed a 12-year exclusive maintenance agreement with CFM for the\nLEAP engine fleet, which will also bring support for the existing Airbus fleet.\nAllegiant currently operates 108 Airbus A319s and A320s and will continue\nsourcing A320s in the used market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT) announced an agreement with Boeing to purchase 50 new 737 MAX aircraft as part of the airline&#8217;s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its fleet.
