{"id":20517,"date":"2022-01-08T15:34:24","date_gmt":"2022-01-08T15:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20517"},"modified":"2022-01-08T15:34:27","modified_gmt":"2022-01-08T15:34:27","slug":"nbaas-christa-lucas-named-to-cte-policy-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/district-of-columbia\/nbaas-christa-lucas-named-to-cte-policy-board\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA\u2019s Christa Lucas Named to CTE Policy Board"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NBAA Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, Public\nPolicy &amp; Advocacy Christa Lucas has been named to the Policy Board of the\nCenter for Transportation and the Environment (CTE), a nonprofit group that\nworks to implement advanced transportation technologies, vehicles and fuels\nthat reduce pollution and fossil fuel dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Christa-Lucas.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Christa-Lucas.jpg 200w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Christa-Lucas-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Christa-Lucas-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption><em>Christa Lucas<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCTE is exploring ways to translate the success we have\nenjoyed in zero-emission transit to other transportation sectors,\u201d said Dan\nRaudebaugh, CTE\u2019s executive director. \u201cChrista Lucas will be able to provide\nvaluable guidance in bringing zero-emission technologies to the aviation\nindustry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CTE\u2019s Policy Board is a subsection of the organization\u2019s\nBoard of Directors, focused on strengthening advocacy efforts in Washington, DC\nand Sacramento, CA. The group said in a statement that Lucas\u2019s public policy\nexperience in transportation and aviation \u201cwill bring valuable experience to\nthe board and will ultimately contribute to the advancement of CTE\u2019s mission,\nespecially in emerging markets like zero-emission airport transportation and\nair travel.\u201d As a member of the Policy Board, Lucas will support the\nimplementation of CTE\u2019s legislative agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her current role with NBAA, Lucas oversees the\norganization\u2019s outreach to Congress, the federal administration, state and\nlocal governments, the aviation community and grassroots programs. Lucas said\nthat a big priority for NBAA is its work in innovation and sustainability, and\nhow to fully integrate that into the overall transportation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe work we\u2019re doing in innovation and sustainability is\ntop of mind for CTE,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucas said that there is a lot of synergy between NBAA and\nCTE, especially with advanced air mobility (AAM) \u2013 which uses electric vertical\ntakeoff and landing aircraft to move people and cargo between places, and can\nbe powered by hybrid electric systems, batteries or potentially hydrogen fuel\ncells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucas leads NBAA\u2019s Advanced Air Mobility Roundtable, a forum\nfor high-level policy planning with sector leaders, to chart a course for the\nintegration of AAM technologies into the nation\u2019s airspace and transportation\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith AAM, the goal is full integration into our\ntransportation system, which would involve transit and other connections and we\nare focused on charging capabilities as well,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have to get\npolicymakers and local communities thinking about our transportation system for\nthe future, not what we have today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While policymakers have focused on charging stations for\ncars, buses and trucks, Lucas said aviation will be next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining NBAA, Lucas worked at the FAA, where she\nwas the associate administrator for airports, overseeing a $3.35 billion annual\nfederal airport grants program and passenger facility charge collections\ntotaling $2 billion. Before that, she was deputy assistant secretary for\naviation and international affairs at the U.S. Department of Transportation,\nserving as the principal advisor to the secretary on a broad portfolio of\nresponsibilities.
