Crouch is an American aeronautics historian and\ncurator. Tom Crouch joined the Smithsonian in 1974 and has served both the\nNational Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of American History in a\nvariety of curatorial and administrative posts. Dr. Crouch retired in 2018 and\nis a curator emeritus. He is the author or editor of several books and many\narticles for both popular magazines and scholarly journals. These include: The\nBishop&#8217;s Boys: A Life of Wilbur and Orville Wright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mark-Baker-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20288\" width=\"249\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mark-Baker-edit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mark-Baker-edit-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 249px) 100vw, 249px\" \/><figcaption><em>Mark Baker<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Baker is Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association\n(AOPA)\u2019s fifth president. He is a commercial pilot with single- and multiengine\nland and seaplane ratings and a rotorcraft rating. In conjunction with his role\nas president and CEO of AOPA, Baker is chairman of AOPA\u2019s Political Action\nCommittee, chief executive officer for the AOPA Foundation, president of the\nInternational Council of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Associations representing\npilots in 72 countries, and publisher of AOPA Pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Holland.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20289\" width=\"277\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Holland.jpg 900w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Holland-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 277px) 100vw, 277px\" \/><figcaption><em>Rob Holland<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob Holland is one of the premier airshow performers and\nfreestyle aerobatic competition pilots in the world today. He is Ten-time,\nconsecutive, U.S. National Aerobatic Champion, Five-time, consecutive, World\n4-minute Freestyle Champion and Eleven-time, U.S. 4-minute Freestyle Champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crouch has had a long association with the First Flight Society and often speaks about the Wright Brothers at the December 17th Wright Brothers Celebration. Holland joins aerobatic pilots Sean D Tucker and Patty Wagstaff as a First Flight Society Honorary Member. Baker is a longtime general aviation (GA) pilot and only the fifth president in the 75-year history of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Honorary Member program launched last year to enhance\nthe public visibility of luminaries like these who have achieved national\nrecognition in aviation. First Flight Society will recognize them in Society\nMedia during their lifetime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The big event, which includes a luncheon, will be on December 17th to celebrate the 118th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers&#8217; first flight. Also known as Wright Brothers Day. As usual this will be presented in cooperation with the National Park Service on the grounds of Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
