{"id":20220,"date":"2021-12-06T13:53:24","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T13:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20220"},"modified":"2021-12-06T13:53:25","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T13:53:25","slug":"nbaa-recognizes-robert-olislagers-decades-of-advocacy-with-silk-scarf-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/nbaa-recognizes-robert-olislagers-decades-of-advocacy-with-silk-scarf-award\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Recognizes Robert Olislagers\u2019 Decades of Advocacy with Silk Scarf Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) presented its prestigious Silk Scarf Award to Robert Olislagers, CEO and executive director of Centennial Airport (APA) in Denver, CO, in recognition of his career-long commitment to business aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award was presented to Olislagers at an event held in\nhonor of his service and upcoming retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Olislauger-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20221\" width=\"182\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Olislauger-1.jpg 225w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Olislauger-1-203x300.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 182px) 100vw, 182px\" \/><figcaption><em>Robert Olislagers<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThroughout his career, Robert has been a fierce advocate\nfor business aviation accessibility, clearly demonstrating the industry\u2019s\nvalue, not only to his community in Denver, but to communities nationwide,\u201d\nsaid NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cBusiness aviation has greatly benefited\nfrom his efforts, and we are pleased to honor him with the NBAA Silk Scarf\nAward, in recognition of his dedication and contributions to the sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olislagers landed at Centennial Airport in 2000 as executive\ndirector. Shortly after assuming his post, he ensured the airport\u2019s continued\nsuccess by authoring and advocating for a bill that restored federal funding\nfor the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2013-2018, under Olislagers\u2019 leadership, the airport\nnearly doubled its economic contribution to the state\u2019s economy, up to $2.1\nbillion from $1.32 billion, according to the 2020 Colorado Division of\nAeronautics Airport Economic Impact Report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olislagers\u2019 advocacy efforts include testifying on behalf of\nthe business aviation industry before Congress, and representing business\naviation with federal agencies, often focusing on aviation security matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At NBAA\u2019s invitation, Olislagers was a featured speaker at\nthe association\u2019s Asian Business Aviation Conference &amp; Exhibition (ABACE)\nin April 2015. There, he addressed a dedicated summit of airport leaders,\nfocused on growing business aviation infrastructure in China and across the\nAsian region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRobert is a long-time partner with NBAA in business\naviation airport matters, but especially in general aviation security,\u201d said\nDoug Carr, NBAA\u2019s senior vice president of safety, security, sustainability and\ninternational affairs. \u201cFor decades, he has advocated for practical security\nmitigations that are now widely practiced in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, Olislagers was named a laureate to the\nColorado Aviation Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) presented its prestigious Silk Scarf Award to Robert Olislagers, CEO and executive director of Centennial Airport (APA) in Denver, CO, in recognition of his career-long commitment to business aviation.
