{"id":20203,"date":"2021-12-04T15:20:56","date_gmt":"2021-12-04T15:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20203"},"modified":"2021-12-04T15:20:58","modified_gmt":"2021-12-04T15:20:58","slug":"eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2022-to-celebrate-75th-anniversary-of-the-u-s-air-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/wisconsin\/eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2022-to-celebrate-75th-anniversary-of-the-u-s-air-force\/%20","title":{"rendered":"EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022 to Celebrate 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 75th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force will be one of\nthe highlights of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022, the 69th edition of the Experimental\nAircraft Association\u2019s annual fly-in convention coming July 25-31 at Wittman\nRegional Airport in Oshkosh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt Oshkosh in 2022, we aim to showcase the memorable\nhistory of the Air Force, from its initial post-World War II era to the\nimpressive personnel, aircraft, and technology of today,\u201d said Rick Larsen,\nEAA\u2019s vice president of communities and member programming, who coordinates\nAirVenture features and attractions. \u201cThe Air Force\u2019s presence at AirVenture\nalso helps spark inspiration among today\u2019s youth toward the innovations and\npossibilities available to them through aviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"144\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9420edit3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20206\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9420edit3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9420edit3-300x108.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific activities and aircraft will be announced as they\nare finalized, but will include fly-bys, static displays, and presentations\nthroughout AirVenture week, including evening programs at EAA\u2019s Theater in the\nWoods. Some of the aircraft will also fly as part of the daily air shows that\nare always favorites among AirVenture attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Air Force was created on September 18, 1947, as\npart of the National Security Act, which established a separate military air\nbranch and put all military branches under a new Department of Defense. It\nrecognized the importance of military air operations and separated it from the\nformer Army Air Forces while naval aviation operations remained separate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9885edit2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20205\" width=\"303\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9885edit2.jpg 698w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9885edit2-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 303px) 100vw, 303px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>U.S. military air operations date back to the Civil War,\nwhen balloons were first used as reconnaissance platforms. In the early 1900s,\nthe Army\u2019s Signal Corps was tasked with \u201call matters pertaining to military\nballooning, air machines and all kindred subjects.\u201d The first aero squadron, as\nit was then known, became active in 1913 and saw its first combat duty in 1916.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the Air Force has more than 325,000 personnel and\nmore than 5,000 aircraft.
