The $162 million contract, which RTAF awarded in October 2020,\nfeatures 12 aircraft as well as ground-based training systems for pilots and\nmaintenance professionals, a mission planning and debrief system, spare parts\nand ground support equipment. The work in support of this contract is taking\nplace at the company\u2019s Wichita, Kansas facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II is designed and manufactured by\nTextron Aviation Defense LLC, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/407594-RTAF-Air-Chief-Marshal-0d3696-original-1637099067edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20121\" width=\"301\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/407594-RTAF-Air-Chief-Marshal-0d3696-original-1637099067edit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/407594-RTAF-Air-Chief-Marshal-0d3696-original-1637099067edit-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><figcaption><em>Marshal Chanon Mungthanya<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Royal Thai Air Force is eager to equip its cadre of\nstudent pilots with the Beechcraft T-6TH Texan II aircraft,\u201d said Betsy Relph,\nthe Textron Aviation Defense T-6 program manager for Thailand. \u201cWe showcased\nall 12 of the aircraft during a recent visit from the RTAF acceptance committee\nand are especially proud that RTAF Air Chief Marshal Chanon Mungthanya was here\nto fly the T-6.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slated to arrive at the Royal Thai Air Force Flying Training\nSchool located at Kamphaeng Saen Air Base between late 2022 and early 2023, the\naircraft are on schedule as they progress down the production line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFlying the RTAF Beechcraft T-6TH Texan II from the historic\nhangar where the entire global fleet of T-6 aircraft are manufactured was a\nvery memorable milestone,\u201d said RTAF Air Chief Marshal Chanon Mungthanya.\n\u201cThese aircraft will equip our students with a significant technological\nadvantage in preparation for their transition to advanced fighter and attack\naircraft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Beechcraft T-6TH Texan II holds the distinction of being\nthe first RTAF procurement contracted in support of S-Curve 11, a Thai plan\nthat focuses on the modernization of key capabilities and promotes the\ndevelopment of the Thai defense industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II has logged more than\n4.6 million flight hours across a global fleet of nearly 1,000 aircraft and\nachieves daily readiness rates of up to 91 percent among the Textron Aviation\nDefense-supported international T-6 fleet. Each year more than 300 pilots from\n42 countries graduate from T-6 training via the NATO Flight Training program in\nCanada, the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT) at Sheppard AFB\nin Texas and the U.S. Air Force Aviation Leadership Program. Another 2,000-plus\npilots graduate from T-6 programs across the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine\nCorps, Army and Coast Guard while more than 2,700 pilots graduate from T-6\nprograms across the Hellenic Air Force, the Argentine Air Force, the Israeli\nAir Force, the Royal Air Force, the Iraqi Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air\nForce, Mexican Navy, the Mexican Air Force, the Royal Moroccan Air Force, the\nColombian Air Force and the Royal New Zealand Air Force.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/407281-HGP_6607-8-5x12-Cover-1b6276-original-1636754878edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20122\" width=\"200\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/407281-HGP_6607-8-5x12-Cover-1b6276-original-1636754878edit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/407281-HGP_6607-8-5x12-Cover-1b6276-original-1636754878edit-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The RTAF also recently awarded Textron Aviation Defense a\n$143 million contract for an Integrated System in support of the 41st Wing\nlight attack operations at Chiang Mai Air Base. The historic contract for eight\nBeechcraft AT-6 Wolverine aircraft, ground support equipment, spare parts,\ntraining, and other equipment establishes Thailand as the international launch\ncustomer for the USAF\u2019s latest light attack aircraft.
