The\nGeneral Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) released its report of\ngeneral aviation aircraft shipments and billings through the third quarter of\n2021. Turboprop, business jet and helicopter deliveries increased during\nthe first nine months of 2021 as compared to the same period of\n2020, while piston airplane unit shipments were down slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\ngeneral aviation manufacturing industry has shown perseverance with continued\ngrowth, all while still navigating pandemic-related setbacks, including\nongoing supply chain and workforce challenges. Despite the constraints imposed\nby shortages of parts and people, our manufacturers and maintenance providers\nare working hard to meet the growing demand for both new and used aircraft,\nwhich we obviously welcome and embrace. Our members are also leading the way in\nnew innovations and technologies, which will shape the future of aviation. Aircraft\nshipments through the third quarter of 2021, when compared to the same period\nin 2020, saw piston airplane deliveries decrease by six units, with 895\nairplanes; turboprop airplane deliveries increased 40.6%, with 357 units;\nand business jet deliveries increased 15.9%, with 438 units. The value of\nairplane deliveries through the third quarter of 2021 was $13.4 billion,\nan increase of approximately 13.0%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turbine\nhelicopter deliveries through the third quarter of 2021, when compared to the\nsame period in 2020, saw an increase of 23.5%, with 410 units; and piston\nhelicopter deliveries saw an increase of 24.8%, with 131 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
