All pilots across the country have benefitted from his vision,\nleadership and contributions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baker is joined in this year\u2019s class by two other noted\naviation notables:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Tom Crouch is a noted aeronautics historian and curator,\nspending 44 years at the Smithsonian (both the National Air and Space Museum\nand National Museum of American History), and retiring in 2018 as curator\nemeritus. Among his several books include: The Bishop&#8217;s Boys: A Life of Wilbur\nand Orville Wright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob Holland is one of the premier airshow performers and\nfreestyle aerobatic competition pilots in the world, having won several U.S.\nand world championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other recent Honorary Members have included Colonel Gail\nHalvorsen, Brigadier General Charles McGee, Dick Rutan, Sean Tucker, and Patty\nWagstaff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile this may be an individual award, it\u2019s emblematic of\nthe great team we have at AOPA,\u201d said Baker. \u201cEveryone in the organization\nhelps make my job easier and, together, we enable aviators to enjoy the amazing\npassion Orville and Wilbur brought to our world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located in famed Kitty Hawk, N.C., the First Flight Society\ncommemorates the first flight of the Wright Brothers and their development of\npowered flight.
