The Louisiana Department of Transportation and\nDevelopment (DOTD) announced the winners of the inaugural Louisiana Airport of\nthe Year and Aviation Professional of the Year awards. The awards were presented\non October 26, at the 2021 Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates Annual\nConference held at the downtown Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn behalf of the whole department, congratulations to\nour award winners,\u201d said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. \u201cAs we know,\nDOTD encompasses much more than roads and bridges. The multimodal aspect is a\nmajor component of the agency, and air travel is obviously an important part of\nour infrastructure for passengers and cargo alike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport of the Year<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Alexandria International Airport (commercial service)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chennault International Airport (general aviation) <\/p>\n\n\n\n Aviation Professional of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Steven Burdeaux, Manager, Minden Airport and Springhill Airport <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCongratulations to Steven, as well as the Alexandria and\nChennault airports, for being the first winners of these prestigious awards,\u201d\nsaid DOTD Commissioner of Multimodal Commerce Renee A. Lapeyrolerie. \u201cWe\u2019re\nthrilled to recognize excellence in aviation, and we\u2019re proud to have these\nwinners represent that mode of transportation in our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The awards recognize the hardworking airport sponsors and\naviation professionals in Louisiana, and the inaugural Louisiana Airport of the\nYear and Aviation Professional of the Year awards recognize superior\nachievement and leadership in the state\u2019s aviation field.
