Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) toured the Raleigh Regional Airport at\nPerson County on Monday including a new hangar under construction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was great to see first-hand how this new hangar will\ncontribute to the economic development of Person County,\u201d said Rep. Budd. \u201cAs\nan amateur pilot myself, it\u2019s encouraging to see how aviation will help the\nregion grow and thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hangar will have a 28\u2019-high hangar door and provide\nstate of the art features, such as the safety of a foam fire suppression\nsystem, a pneumatic compressed air system, infrared heaters, LED lighting,\nmultiple electrical systems, generator backup power, water, upfitted and\nfully-conditioned office space and workshop, aircraft parking apron and\nprivate, paved auto parking with EV charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sherry Wilborn, Director, Person County Economic Development,\nsaid general aviation airports are often underappreciated for the value they\nbring to rural communities. \u201cRaleigh Regional Airport supports regional\nagricultural applications, emergency responses, recreational endeavors, and\nmore,\u201d said Wilborn. \u201cPerhaps even more importantly, it supports our economic\ndevelopment goals by providing critical cargo support to some of our top\nregional employers, and timely access to industry located in Person County and\nbeyond.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During COVID, when commercial flights were unavailable at a\ntime when manufacturers needed to modify floor plans and pivot operations, Wilborn\npointed out that Raleigh Regional Airport provided access to C-level\ndecision-makers located elsewhere. \u201cOur airport increases our tax base,\nsupports jobs, and serves as a key recruitment tool for business development,\u201d\nnoted Wilborn. \u201cCongressman Budd understands this, and we appreciate his desire\nto support and stay abreast of our ongoing efforts to expand and grow this\nregional asset.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
