In 2020 the Dee Howard Foundation in partnership with UTSA\nlaunched The Dee Howard Foundation\/UTSA PreK- 12 Aviation and Aerospace Art Contest\nwith the goal of inspiring young innovators to depict their vision of a human\nmission to Mars. In its first year the\nart contest drew hundreds of students from across the San Antonio Area and\nbeyond and had 19 different school districts and charter networks participate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 24th, 2021, the foundation launched its newest\ncontest with the theme, The Future of Flight. \n\u201cFor this year\u2019s contest we are asking young people to use their\nimaginations to create art that explores what flight might look like in the\nnext 20 years. There have been amazing innovations in flying technology just\nover the last 100 years. We can\u2019t wait\nto see what amazing pieces of art are inspired by this year\u2019s theme\u201d, said\nChristina Martinez, Executive Director of the foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The foundation has nominated and selected Olga Custodio,\nUSAFR LtCol (Ret) AA Captain (Ret), to serve as this year\u2019s Honorary Mission Commander,\n\u201cI am honored to be supporting The Dee Howard Foundation in this capacity,\nespecially stepping in after the esteemed Dr. Bernard Harris.\u201d \u2013 Olga Custodio<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All educators from Bexar, Atascosa, Bandera, Comal,\nGuadalupe, Kendall, Medina, and Wilson counties are invited to\nparticipate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
