The award is given to recognize \u201ccontributions of\nsignificant value to aeronautics over an extended period of years.\u201d Brown was\none of seven people to receive the 2021 Wesley L. McDonald Distinguished\nStatesman and Stateswoman of Aviation Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, NAA said it recognized Brown for \u201c\u201c\u2026 his\nfour-decade long career in aviation defined by passion, service, inspiration,\ninnovation, and selfless leadership at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots\nAssociation (AOPA), National Aeronautic Association (NAA), Federal Aviation\nAdministration (FAA) and National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brown, who joined NBAA in 2004, oversees all of NBAA\u2019s\nactivities relating to aircraft operations and flight department management\nissues, as well as the administrative, financial and human resources functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are thrilled that Steve is receiving this well-earned\nrecognition from NAA,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cThe industry has\nbenefitted in countless ways from Steve\u2019s leadership and tireless dedication \u2013\nhe is most deserving of this honor, and he has our enduring gratitude for his\ndecades of service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before joining NBAA, Brown was a top official with the FAA,\nserving as vice president of operations planning, after working as associate\nadministrator for air traffic services. Earlier in his career, he was president\nof NAA and senior vice president of government and technical affairs at the\nAOPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brown was also a member of the faculty at Texas A&M\nUniversity, where he taught aviation-related courses. Additionally, he worked\nfor the Texas Aeronautics Commission and as an air taxi pilot and full-time\nflight instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this year, he was named to the Transportation\nSecurity Administration\u2019s (TSA\u2019s) Aviation Security Advisory Committee, which\nis tasked with providing recommendations for improving aviation security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NAA also recognized former NBAA Communications Director\nCassandra Bosco for her 35 years of dedicated service providing consulting and\nexecutive services to leaders in the aerospace industry, in addition to her\npassionate industry advocacy and commitment to the advancement of women in all\naviation related fields. Bosco worked at NBAA from 1988-2004, and since that\ntime has worked for organizations ranging from the University Aviation Association\nto Women in Aviation International. She is the owner of TailWinds\nCommunications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brown, Bosco and the other honorees will be recognized at\nthe NAA Fall Awards Dinner, set for Dec. 6 in Arlington, VA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
