The Colorado Aviation Historical Society announced\nCentennial Airport Chief Executive Officer Robert Olislagers has been named a\n2021 laureate to the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1969, this prestigious award has recognized\nindividuals who have made significant contributions to aviation in the state of\nColorado. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis award is, without a doubt, the highlight of my\ncareer,\u201d Olislagers said. \u201cTo be able to join more than 200 other aviation\ngreats from this state\u2014like Apollo 13 astronaut Jack Swigert, first female\nairline Captain Emily Warner, and aviation pioneer Elrey Jeppesen\u2014is truly\nhumbling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olislagers joined Centennial Airport in 2000, after a\nnationwide search for a new executive director. In his 21 years at the helm, he\nauthored Public Law 108-7, Sec. 321, which was signed into law in 2003 and\nrestored federal funding to Centennial Airport which was lost in 1999.\nAdditionally, he tripled the airport\u2019s asset value and raised its yearly\neconomic impact from $815 million in 2008 to $2.1 billion in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Candidates for selection into the Aviation Hall of Fame must\nhave a sponsor and undergo a rigorous review by a five-member panel. Candidates\nmust present a personal profile with well-detailed documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile we, obviously, look for significant contributions to\naviation, we especially look for the candidate\u2019s contribution to aviation in\nColorado,\u201d said Steve Kelly, president of the Colorado Aviation Historical\nSociety. \u201cRobert\u2019s work at Centennial Airport, along with aviation security,\ndevelopment within the Denver metro area, and his legislative work\u2014 well,\nRobert had a lot going for him.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CAHS HOF list of laureates includes renowned pilots and\nastronauts, aircraft designers and experimenters, airline builders, aviation\nentrepreneurs, fixed-base innovators, record-breaking balloonists and soaring\npilots, authors, and educators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Again, I am so humbled to receive this recognition,\u201d added\nOlislagers. \u201cHowever, I am well aware that such a singular honor like this is\nnot a solo act\u2014it is built upon the backs of a lot of people that have helped\nme along the way. To them, I am most grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olislagers, along with laureate John \u201cJohnny\u201d Pinell will be\nformally inducted into the Hall of Fame at an Oct. 9 luncheon in Lakewood,\nColo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
