Redtail Flight Academy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The RedTail Flight Academy (RFA) celebrated the opening of\nits state-of-the-art flight academy recently at New York Stewart International\nAirport in partnership with Wheels Up. Honoring the legacy of the Tuskegee\nAirmen, the RedTail Flight Academy will train seven minority youth from\nunderserved communities to develop a pipeline of diverse aviators and future\nleaders in the industry. The alliance between the two organizations reflects\nRedTail Flight Academy\u2019s commitment of developing highly qualified talent by\npartnering with industry leaders to host internships, lectures, roundtables,\nshadowing and mentoring opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lt.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19434\" width=\"187\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lt.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lt-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 187px) 100vw, 187px\" \/><figcaption>Tuskegee Airmen Lieutenant Colonel Enoch Woodhouse. <br><em>Photo Credit: Anthony Geathers <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To honor the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and strengthen\nthe foundation of the Academy, original documented Tuskegee Airmen Lieutenant\nColonel Enoch Woodhouse will attend the opening to welcome the inaugural\ncadets, including three females and four males. The Academy strives to increase\nthe percentage of minority aviators from less than 2.5% represented in the\nmilitary and the commercial space, to at least 4% in the next 10 years through\ntheir efforts and community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re honored to be the first part 135 provider to partner\nwith the RedTail Flight Academy to help support the next generation of aviation\ntalent,\u201d said Lieutenant General Thomas W. Bergeson, Chief Operating Officer at\nWheels Up. \u201cBy offering two internships every year to academy graduates, we\u2019re\ncommitting to diversifying our employee base and offering positions to underserved\ncommunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded by the New York-based chapter of Tuskegee Airmen\nInc., RedTail Flight Academy will use aviation as a developmental tool focusing\non STEM, leadership development, and the legacy of the original Tuskegee\nAirmen. Archer Jr. Red Tail Youth Flying\nProgram. \u201cThe opportunity for our graduates to gain firsthand experience\nthrough Internships at such a great company ensures they continue to learn\naviation skills from industry leaders.,\u201d Fraser said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to providing two internships to academy\ngraduates, Wheels Up will donate $1,000 from every new Core Memberships signup\nto the RedTail Academy.
