{"id":19341,"date":"2021-08-30T21:19:38","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T21:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=19341"},"modified":"2021-08-30T21:22:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T21:22:18","slug":"debut-of-documentary-film-flying-boat-draws-thousands-at-airventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/debut-of-documentary-film-flying-boat-draws-thousands-at-airventure\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Debut of Documentary Film, Flying Boat, Draws Thousands at AirVenture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Amid a nostalgic backdrop reminiscent of famous drive-in\ntheaters of yesteryear, Filmmaker\/Photographer\/Pilot Dirk Braun made the\ntheatrical debut of his new 77-minute breakout documentary, FLYING BOAT, which\nkicked off the 68th EAA AirVenture Fly-in in Oshkosh, WI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-FLYING-Boat-Limited-Edition-Poster.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19344\" width=\"252\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-FLYING-Boat-Limited-Edition-Poster.jpg 427w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-FLYING-Boat-Limited-Edition-Poster-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Attending the World Premiere were Managing Editor Hal Bryan\nof EAA who introduced Braun to thousands of aviation enthusiasts, many who\nposed with the filmmaker at the entrance to the Fly-in Theatre where a\nspectacular FLYING BOAT neon sign welcomed guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In celebration of the movie, Braun is donating a portion of\nthe proceeds from the sales of 100 limited edition fine art FLYING BOAT film\nposters (both signed and framed) to Pan Am Museum Foundation, Wittman Regional\nAirport in Oshkosh, WI and Aspen Flight Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To kick off the World Premiere, Braun, together with pilot\/cast\nmember Joe Duke, arrived at Wittman Regional Airport in an award-winning 1954\nGrumman Albatross, one of only 12 G-111 models made (featured in the movie) and\nonly a handful of airworthy examples that are in existence today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-Logo-Dirk-Braun.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19345\" width=\"184\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-Logo-Dirk-Braun.jpg 834w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-Logo-Dirk-Braun-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-Logo-Dirk-Braun-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021-Logo-Dirk-Braun-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Braun, the spectacular aircraft boasts a large\ntwin radial engine (1425 hp each), is an amphibious seaplane first used for\nopen ocean search and rescue and is arguably the most diversely capable and well-traveled\naircraft ever made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy goal for the movie is to encourage those interested in\ntraveling and exploring to realize that travel is about the epic journey as\nwell as the destination.
