The record amount of funding will be\nused to bring more students in Oklahoma to STEM careers, particularly those in\naerospace and aviation.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/OK-Aero-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19150\" width=\"228\" height=\"68\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Grants will be awarded for targeted learning programs that\nhave a direct application to aerospace and aviation for primary through\npost-secondary education. The grant funds are part of the agency\u2019s initiative\nto give more Oklahoma young people access to STEM careers in the aerospace and\naviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviation and aerospace are a significant economic engine in the\nstate providing 206,000 direct and indirect jobs.&nbsp; For commerce and communities, a safe,\nreliable, and accessible aviation system is critical.&nbsp; The commission\u2019s Aerospace and Aviation\nEducation Program encourages both young and adult Oklahomans to consider\naviation and aerospace as a career. The initiative supports the Oklahoma Works\nproject that aims to address the skills gap and connect students to programs\nthat will help build the workforce of Oklahoma\u2019s second-largest industry.\nFunding requests totaled over $567,470 this year, which underscores the\nimportance of aviation and the realization that an adequate workforce is the\nlifeblood of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commission\u2019s program has been recognized twice by the\nNational Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), enjoying a positive\nreputation for investing millions in aerospace and aviation education programs\nstatewide.
