{"id":18997,"date":"2021-07-27T13:06:19","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T13:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18997"},"modified":"2021-07-27T13:06:24","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T13:06:24","slug":"faa-posts-sierra-space-dream-chaser-proposed-project-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/florida\/faa-posts-sierra-space-dream-chaser-proposed-project-information\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Posts Sierra Space Dream Chaser Proposed Project Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/space\/stakeholder_engagement\/shuttle_landing_facility\/sierra_operations\/\">project website<\/a> for the public to learn more about Sierra Space Corporation\u2019s proposed plan to land its Dream Chaser reentry vehicle at the Space Florida Shuttle Landing Facility in Titusville, Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Titusville-FL-Space-Launch-Recovery.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18998\" width=\"306\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Titusville-FL-Space-Launch-Recovery.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Titusville-FL-Space-Launch-Recovery-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>People interested in the project can subscribe to receive\nproject updates and information about opportunities for public involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dream Chaser is a reusable reentry vehicle and would be\nlaunched as payload on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from a different\nsite. Sierra Space has a contract with NASA to carry supplies to and from the\nInternational Space Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This proposed project is currently in the pre-application\nconsultation phase. Once the FAA receives Sierra Space\u2019s license application,\nthe agency will begin its license evaluation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes reviews on safety, environmental impacts,\nairspace integration, policy, payload and financial responsibility in\naccordance with FAA regulations and the National Environmental Policy Act.
