The program recognizes classroom teachers for their\naccomplishments and achievements in exciting K-12 students about science,\ntechnology, engineering, and math (STEM) and preparing students to use and\ncontribute to tomorrow\u2019s technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Tuckeredit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18994\" width=\"240\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Tuckeredit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Tuckeredit-270x300.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><figcaption><em>Megan Tucker<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A 17-year veteran of teaching, Tucker has served the last\nfive years as STEAM Specialist (K-5)\/ Instructional Facilitator of Technology\n(K-5 and Professional Development)\/Gifted Teacher (K-5 and Professional\nDevelopment)\/Intervention Coordinator, and STEAM Curriculum Consultant at\nHillsboro Charter Academy, Hillsboro, Va.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMs. Tucker, our 2021 National Teacher of the Year, is\nanother great STEM educator selected to be a part of AFA\u2019s prestigious Teacher\nof the Year program,\u201d said Jim Hannam, AFA Vice Chairman of Aerospace\nEducation. \u201cAll of the finalists were outstanding, enthusiastic instructors and\nit was a tough call for our team to make from among the fantastic nominees\nacross the states and overseas. Infected with what she calls \u2018aviation\nfascination,\u2019 Ms. Tucker is an exemplary representative of America\u2019s innovative\nteachers for AFA and Rolls-Royce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominated by AFA Gabriel Chapter #433, Chapter President\nMike Winters met Ms. Tucker when she invited him to participate in a \u201cFlight\nFunday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have participated in many programs that aim to inspire a\npassion for the STEM fields,\u201d Winters said. \u201cNone of these could hold a candle\nto Megan\u2019s infectious enthusiasm that spread through the whole school! It is\nall the more impressive that she is able to bring this enthusiasm down to the\nelementary school level. The Air Force Association is blessed to have a teacher\nso dedicated to teaching aviation fundamentals through a school-wide elementary\nSTEM program. She is truly making a positive impact on the future of Air &amp;\nSpace Power at the earliest stage of learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Tucker achieved her bachelor\u2019s degree in Elementary\nEducation and her master\u2019s degree in Science Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe congratulate Megan Tucker for this well-deserved\nrecognition as AFA\u2019s National Teacher of the Year,\u201d said Darryl Roberson,\nRolls-Royce, Senior Vice President, and Air Force Lt.
