The Air Show and Balloon Festival was cancelled in 2020\ndue to Covid 19 restrictions. This was the first time in the history of the\nevent that it was cancelled. The 2021 event ran for five days beginning\nWednesday, June 30 at 5 p.m. and concluded Sunday, July 4 with fireworks at\n10:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/F22edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18845\" width=\"315\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/F22edit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/F22edit-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><figcaption><em>F-22 Raptor<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Airshow featured the US Air\nForce F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team. This is the only F-22 Raptor\ndemonstration in the State of Michigan this year. The F-22 Raptor is the Air\nForce fifth generation fighter aircraft. The Raptor performs air to air and air\nto ground missions. The F-22 Raptor demonstration team is stationed at\nLangley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia. The demonstration team has 19 members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World Champion Rob Holland\nperformed in the MXS-RH. Mr. Holland has 28 International Competition Medals,\nan eight-time, consecutive, U.S. National Aerobatic Champion, four-time World\nFreestyle Aerobatic Champion, nine-time U. S. Freestyle Aerobatic Champion and\nhas received many other awards. Mr. Holland had been a professional airshow and\naerobatic pilot for the last 18 years.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/MistyBlue1edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18847\" width=\"142\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MistyBlue1edit.jpg 200w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MistyBlue1edit-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 142px) 100vw, 142px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Misty Blues, the all-Female\nParachute Team made up of 13 women, performed several jumps during the event.\nThe Misty Blues have been performing since the early 1980\u2019s. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kyle Franklin with the Flying Circus Comedy Act provided laughs for the crowd, and the Wall of Fire (several of them) made by Fire Walkers International Pyro, drew plenty of oohs and ahs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Smith performed in the AFTERSHOCK Jet Fire Truck. The truck is a 1940 Ford Fire Truck with twin Rolls-Royce Bristol Viper Jet engines totaling over 24,000 horsepower. This truck holds the Guinness speed Record for fire trucks at 407 mph. (See below)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"154\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/JetTruck1edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18846\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/JetTruck1edit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/JetTruck1edit-300x92.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chachi \u201cRocketman\u201d Valencia being\nshot out of a cannon at 55 mph and heights over 65 feet! The Rocketman Valencia\nhas 23 years of Human Cannonball experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other acts included Ken Rieder\nRedline Air Shows RV-8, Patrick McAlee Blue Demon Pitts, Bob Carlton with Jet\nPowered Sailplane, and Mark Vaknin in the Extra 300. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Twilight and Night Air Show with\nPyro were held on Friday, July 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balloon launches and balloon\nillume were scheduled on Wednesday, June 30 and Saturday, July 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other events included music bands,\nSkerbeck&nbsp; 20+ carnival rides and games,\nfood and craft vendors, and Firework shows. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Story and Photos by Kenn Potts The Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival returned to the Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field in 2021.
