{"id":18798,"date":"2021-07-11T13:59:10","date_gmt":"2021-07-11T13:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18798"},"modified":"2021-07-11T14:01:45","modified_gmt":"2021-07-11T14:01:45","slug":"aviation-author-to-be-inducted-into-colorado-authors-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/aviation-author-to-be-inducted-into-colorado-authors-hall-of-fame\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Aviation Author to Be Inducted into Colorado Author\u2019s Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Colorado Author\u2019s Hall of Fame recently announced that its\n2021 inductees will include Penny Rafferty Hamilton, Ph.D. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Penny-Hamilton.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18799\" width=\"377\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Penny-Hamilton.jpg 644w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Penny-Hamilton-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><figcaption><em>Penny Rafferty Hamilton, Ph.D.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 30 years authoring articles and books, Ms. Rafferty Hamilton, of Granby, CO, reflects her passions for aviation, Western heritage, and women\u2019s history in her writings and is the recipient of numerous aviation, education and business awards including the National Association of State Aviation Officials\u2019 (NASAO) National Journalism Award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently focusing on aviation and aerospace, she recently authored\nAmerica\u2019s Amazing Airports, Inspiring Words for Sky and Space Women, and 101\nTrailblazing Women of Air and Space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/AAA-coveredit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18800\" width=\"154\" height=\"237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AAA-coveredit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AAA-coveredit-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 154px) 100vw, 154px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than 25 years, her \u201cPenny the Pilot\u201d program has\nbeen a cornerstone in many schools teaching preschoolers and elementary\nchildren about the history of women in aviation. For this contribution to\naviation history and preservation, the FAA Central Region bestowed on Penny its\nChampion of Aviation Education Award and ABC-TV in Denver recognized her with\nits Everyday Hero award in 2009. Encouraging women to enter STEM fields is a\nhigh priority for her, to prepare future generations for the existing\nchallenges ahead, and above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penny\u2019s ground-breaking Teaching Women to Fly Research\nProject findings were published in the Proceedings of the Human Resource\nDevelopment International and in the international textbook, Absent Aviators:\nGender Issues in Aviation. She is honored to be a Laureate of both the Colorado\nAviation and Women\u2019s Halls of Fame. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Colorado Authors&#8217; Hall of Fame honors and promotes the\nworks of outstanding published authors from all genres and generations to\nensure their legacies will not be lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hall strives to educate the people of Colorado and the\ncountry about the stories of the authors who shaped their works using their\npersonal presence and the environment of our State with courage, leadership,\nintelligence, compassion, and creativity.
