The test was developed to provide\nrecreational drone flyers with aeronautical safety knowledge and an overview of\nthe rules for operating drones in the National Airspace System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese organizations are key to making this test widely\navailable and easily accessible to recreational drone pilots,\u201d said FAA\nAdministrator Steve Dickson. \u201cWe need pilots of all aircraft, including those\nwho operate recreational drones, to have the training and knowledge needed to\noperate safely in the nation\u2019s airspace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test may be taken through any of the following approved\norganizations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)<\/li><li>The Boy Scouts of America<\/li><li>Chippewa Valley Technical College<\/li><li>Community College of Allegheny County &#8211; West\nHills Center<\/li><li>CrossFlight Sky Solutions LLC<\/li><li>Drone Launch Academy LLC<\/li><li>Drone U<\/li><li>Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)<\/li><li>HSU Educational Foundation<\/li><li>Lake Area Technical College<\/li><li>Pilot Institute<\/li><li>Proctorio Incorporated<\/li><li>Tactical Aviation<\/li><li>UAV Coach<\/li><li>University of Arizona Global Campus<\/li><li>Volatus Aerospace Corp<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Links to test administrators are available on the FAA\nwebsite. The test is administered online at no cost through the approved test\nadministrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After passing the test, recreational drone flyers will be\nissued a completion certificate which they are required to show if asked by FAA\nor law enforcement personnel. The completion certificate does not expire.\nRecreational drone flyers should take the test at their earliest convenience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress required the development of the testing program in\nthe FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.
