{"id":18702,"date":"2021-06-21T22:32:42","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T22:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18702"},"modified":"2021-06-23T12:24:26","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T12:24:26","slug":"sky-aviation-holdings-donates-two-jets-to-gtcc-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/north-carolina\/sky-aviation-holdings-donates-two-jets-to-gtcc-foundation\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Sky Aviation Holdings Donates Two Jets to GTCC Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sky Aviation Holdings donated two aircraft valued at more than $350,000 to the Guilford Technical Community College <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gtcc.edu\/community-engagement\/giving-to-gtcc\/index.php\">Foundation<\/a> in June to be used in the college\u2019s aviation programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GTCC Foundation, located in Jamestown, NC, was presented\nwith a 1984 Diamond IA A073SA jet with fully functioning engines and avionics\nand the fuselage of Diamond jet with a fully working avionics package. Both\nplanes are decommissioned and cannot be used in flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sky Aviation donation will serve to bolster an already\nrobust GTCC aviation program, helping to better train current students and aid\nin the recruitment of new students to the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a remarkable gift from Sky Aviation. It will give\nour students a better hands-on experience in their aviation education,\u201d said\nDr. Anthony Clarke, president of GTCC. \u201cWe are extremely grateful for this\ndonation that will be vitally important to our aviation students and help them\nbecome better prepared for the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyaviationholdings.com\/\">Sky Aviation Holdings<\/a>, based in Pompano Beach, Florida, is a global leader in the sale of luxury and corporate private jet sales. Sky Aviation opened an affiliate company, Sky Aircraft Maintenance at the Davidson County Airport last fall. The full-service aircraft maintenance operation specializes in Beechjet, Learjet, and Hawker Aircraft with service to jet engines and aircraft interior completions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSky Aviation Holdings on behalf of our subsidiary, Sky\nAircraft Maintenance, is pleased to be able to make the donation of these two\njets,\u201d said Tom Conlan, president of Sky Aviation Holdings, adding that his\ncompanies have developed a strong relationship with GTCC since establishing\ntheir Davidson County facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have had the pleasure of having up to seven students\nfrom the GTCC A&amp;P and avionics school, working with our management team,\nreceiving on the job training, working on jet aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are firm believers in technical schools, providing\ntraining that allows students to graduate with specific skill sets that the\naviation industry needs. We also passionately believe that this collaboration\nis beneficial as much to the students as it is to our company. In addition, we\nbelieve that the local communities involved also receive a tremendous benefit\nby keeping bright, ambitious, hardworking young people to continue to reside in\nthe surrounding towns they grew up in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colin Dolby, a graduate of GTCC\u2019s aviation program and\ncurrent Sky Aircraft Maintenance employee, understands the value of the\ndonation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis donation means a lot to me knowing that the next\ngeneration of mechanics will get hands-on experience that will easily transfer\nto working in this industry,\u201d said Dolby. \u201cWorking with Sky Aircraft\nMaintenance has been a great opportunity.
