{"id":18643,"date":"2021-06-14T11:24:27","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T11:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18643"},"modified":"2021-06-14T15:21:21","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T15:21:21","slug":"5-million-awarded-for-airport-nd-infrastructure-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/north-dakota\/5-million-awarded-for-airport-nd-infrastructure-grants\/%20","title":{"rendered":"$5 Million Awarded for Airport ND Infrastructure Grants &#8211; Airline Passenger Boardings Continue Positive Trend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission finalized approximately $5 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/aero.nd.gov\/news\/nd-aeronautics-awards-5-million-in-infrastructure-grants\/\">state infrastructure grant allocations<\/a> to multiple public airports throughout North Dakota.&nbsp; One hundred and two individual projects have received grant awards at 53 different public-use airports throughout the state.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A majority of the grant allocations are made possible from\nthe Aeronautics Commission\u2019s Special Fund where the primary revenue source is\nderived from state tax collections on aviation fuel and aircraft sales. These\nstate grants are critical in maintaining the needed infrastructure to support\nthe aviation industry, which is a major contributor to the state\u2019s economy and\nstandard of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese state airport grant allocations will help to supplement the funding of high priority airport projects within North Dakota while at the same time ensuring that our statewide aviation system is being maintained.\u00c2\u00a0 These grants will also help to create jobs within our communities and will greatly assist our airports as they help our economy rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d stated Kyle Wanner, the Executive Director of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Airline Passenger Boardings Continue Positive Trend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>North Dakota\u2019s eight commercial service airports posted a\ntotal of 69,285 airline passenger boardings during the month of May. The demand\nfor air travel has seen a steady recovery in recent months and has currently\nleveled to approximately 30% below pre-pandemic numbers.
