This is the largest\nfederal grant ever received by the airport and will cover the expenses to\nensure the airport\u2019s infrastructure is maintained in excellent condition and\nbest serve all aircraft customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis federal grant supports Scottsdale Airport and the\nvitally important role it plays in this region,\u201d says Gary P. Mascaro,\nScottsdale Airport aviation director. \u201cIt\u2019s imperative for the airport to\nprovide a well maintained, safe and secure infrastructure to accommodate our\naircraft operators. We want to retain our competitive advantages as an\nessential hub for general aviation and corporate activity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is solely a rehabilitation and will not increase\nthe runway length or weight capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the award of this grant today, it\u2019s full steam ahead.\nPreconstruction plans are in process and crews will be ready to start the\nproject, as planned, at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 6. The project is expected to\nbe completed in around 45-days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport will be closed to all operations (aside from\nhelicopters operating from the apron area). This project is scheduled during\nthe airport\u2019s slowest operational time, so it can be completed and ready for\nthe fall when operations start its upswing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scottsdale Airport is one of the busiest single runway\ngeneral aviation and corporate airports in the nation, and a top corporate jet\nfacility.
