{"id":18612,"date":"2021-06-08T12:07:54","date_gmt":"2021-06-08T12:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18612"},"modified":"2021-06-08T12:09:33","modified_gmt":"2021-06-08T12:09:33","slug":"modernization-at-kansai-international-airport-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/modernization-at-kansai-international-airport-launched\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Modernization at Kansai International Airport Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>VINCI Airports and its partner ORIX, concession owners of\nKansai International Airport, launched the modernization of the airport\u2019s Terminal\n1 on May 28th, the largest works program since the airport was opened in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with Japan\u2019s tourism strategy and economic\ndevelopment of the Kansai region, the project will continue and accelerate the\nmodernization of the Kansai airport, initiated from the start of the concession\nin 2016. The goal is to create more capacity and improve the passenger\nexperience without building a new terminal &#8211; an approach based on optimizing existing\nspaces that fits with VINCI Airports\u2019 environmental objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work will involve enlarging and completely renovating\nthe airport\u2019s international passenger journey: security controls, boarding,\ndepartures, retail spaces and arrivals. The new journey will showcase the\narchitecture of the building designed by Renzo Piano, while new technologies\nwill optimize flows and enhance the passenger experience. Domestic passengers\nwill also benefit from a new, more functional, and compact space with a broader\nrange of services and a vast retail offering available right up to the boarding\npoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the renovated spaces will be designed to the most\nstringent environmental standards for reducing energy consumption and will\nenhance accessibility and comfort for all users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nicolas Notebaert, Chief Executive Officer of VINCI\nConcessions and President of VINCI Airports declared, \u201cModernization of Kansai\ninternational airport will act as a source of growth and enhance the\nattractiveness of the region. As a long-term partner working with the Japanese\nauthorities, VINCI Airports is proud to stand alongside them in this new phase\nof improvements that will make the airport even more effective, sustainable and\ninnovative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, supported by the Japanese government, will make\nthe airport the \u201cFirst Pavilion\u201d of the Osaka-Kansai Japan Expo 2025.
