{"id":18608,"date":"2021-06-08T11:50:02","date_gmt":"2021-06-08T11:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18608"},"modified":"2021-06-08T11:50:04","modified_gmt":"2021-06-08T11:50:04","slug":"faa-approves-renewal-of-oklahoma-spaceport-license","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/oklahoma\/faa-approves-renewal-of-oklahoma-spaceport-license\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Approves Renewal of Oklahoma Spaceport License"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After completing a comprehensive review, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved the renewal of the spaceport license for the <a href=\"https:\/\/airspaceportok.com\/\">Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The license authorizes the Authority to operate a launch\nsite at the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark in Burns Flat, Okla., in support\nof FAA-licensed or \u2013permitted suborbital missions by reusable launch vehicles.\nThe license is valid for five years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently 12 commercial FAA-licensed spaceports, located in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/about\/office_org\/headquarters_offices\/ast\/programs\/office_spaceports\/\">see map<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA\u2019s top priority in regulating commercial space\ntransportation is that launch and reentry operations are safe for the public.\nThe agency protects public safety by licensing commercial launch and reentry\nactivities and monitoring FAA-licensed operations to make sure all phases\ncomply with the regulations.
