This was the state\u2019s general appropriations bill for the 2021\nlegislative session and included in it was an appropriation of $2,000,000 to\nthe Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission for investment in airport infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18592\" width=\"181\" height=\"244\"\/><figcaption><em>Grayson Ardies<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is monumental news for the agency given that we\nhaven\u2019t received an appropriation since the 80s and 90s,\u201d said Grayson Ardies, State\nDirector of Aeronautics. \u201cIt takes a team to get things like this accomplished,\nand I\u2019m certainly proud of the Commission staff that worked both on the front\nlines and behind the scenes to secure an appropriation of this magnitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies said that airports, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts\nacross the state have helped to spread the good message of what the aviation industry\nin Oklahoma can do, as well as communicating the infrastructure needs, that airports\nin the state have in-order to maintain their status as economic drivers in\ntheir communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Aeronautics Commission has spent years advocating for an\nappropriation for aerospace programs such as the CADSQ and OAI missions as well\nas for airport infrastructure. \u201cIt is no small feat for an agency like ours to\nget additional funds from the legislature,\u201d said Ardies. \u201cThis is not only\nindicative of the work the agency has done but a reflection of the airport\ncommunity that has supported us in our efforts for years, as well as the\noverall success the aviation and aerospace industry has provided for the state.&nbsp; The relationships that our airport community,\nas well as our industry partners, have worked on for years were invaluable to\nthe success of our effort this year.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was certainly hard work to get us to this point,\u201d said\nArdies, \u201cbut the work is just beginning.
