The Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) has partnered with\nAviation Influence (AVi) to elevate the interest, engagement, and enthusiasm\nfor UAS in our nation\u2019s youth through hands-on STEM and programs focused on\ndrones. The goal is to introduce the excitement and potential of unmanned\ntechnology through STEM offerings with a focus on underrepresented communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAviation has historically been a challenge to bring into\nthe classroom as a STEM program because traditional manned aircraft are large\nand expensive,\u201d stated Josh Olds, President and Co-Founder of USI. \u201cUnmanned aviation provides a great\nopportunity to introduce this fascinating and exciting technology through STEM\nprograms, and better yet, students can turn their interest in UAS into\nchallenging and rewarding careers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aviation Influence\u2019s Board Chair, Bruce Ganger added, \u201cAVi\nis committed to helping students discover their passion for innovation and\ntechnology through STEM initiatives. USI\noffers the industry\u2019s most recognized and adopted curriculum and industry\ncertifications, making this a natural partnership to offer schools a turn-key\nUAS program for the classroom that will keep students engaged and wanting\nmore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The partnership will offer USI\u2019s small UAS Safety Ground\nSchool for free. This course provides an\nin-depth understanding of basic aviation safety fundamentals while preparing\nthe learner to take the FAA Part 107 test. \nStudents could obtain this FAA certification, providing them with the\nnecessary regulatory requirements to conduct commercial operations using\ndrones. Both organizations will promote\nthe relationship through social media and participation in numerous aviation\nevents including National Aviation Day, Girls in Aviation Day, National Drone\nSafety Awareness Week, and at various aviation career expos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
