The company targets underserved and unserved cities without nonstop\nservice and has identified dozens of route opportunities from Norfolk\nInternational Airport. Norfolk will be one of Breeze Airways\u2019 first four\noperations bases in the United States, and the airline also plans to offer\nflights out of Richmond International Airport. Virginia successfully competed\nwith several other locations for the project, which will create 116 new jobs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"312\" height=\"161\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/breezeairways2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/breezeairways2.jpg 312w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/breezeairways2-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBreeze is excited to be announcing two destinations in\nVirginia: Norfolk and Richmond,\u201d said David Neeleman, Founder and CEO of Breeze\nAirways. \u201cNorfolk, particularly, is a strong inbound destination with a\nsignificant number of unserved markets that will provide Breeze with many years\nof growth opportunities. We\u2019re looking forward to providing Virginians with low\nfares and nonstop service, getting them where they\u2019re going in half the time,\nusually for about half the price.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe addition of Breeze Airways will be a gamechanger not\nonly for Norfolk, but for the Commonwealth as a whole, connecting the 757\nRegion with nonstop service to more than 40 route opportunities,\u201d said Rita\nMcClenny, President and CEO of Virginia Tourism Corporation. \u201cThis new gateway\nwill boost visitation from important markets, while also introducing the\nCommonwealth to new audiences, including travelers, businesses, students, and\nthe military. This new addition will provide visitors with convenient access to\none of the Commonwealth\u2019s most exciting and beautiful regions, giving them a\nchance to discover for themselves why Virginia is for Lovers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with\nthe City of Norfolk, Norfolk Airport Authority, Virginia Department of\nAviation, Hampton Roads Alliance, Hampton Roads Workforce Council,\nVisitNorfolk, and Virginia Tourism Corporation to secure the project for the\nCommonwealth.
