The Arizona Department of Transportation announced Yuma\nInternational Airport as the 2021 Arizona Airport of the Year during the\nArizona Airports Association (AzAA) annual Spring conference recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the virtual awards banquet, ADOT\u2019s Aeronautics Group\nselected Yuma International Airport based on its accomplishments in the areas\nof community relations, airport management, airport maintenance activities and\ninnovative activities and programs implemented at the airport. Specific\nrecognition was given for its aviation advocacy, economic development,\ncommunity outreach and airport management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuma Airport Director, Gladys Brown shared, \u201cWe have an\namazing group made up of a hardworking dedicated airport team, Board of\nDirectors, and a wonderful supportive community. It is easy to talk about \u2018all\nthe great things\u2019 the Airport and our community do to make us stand out.\nDespite the incredible challenges the travel industry faced during the\npandemic, it also provided our team opportunities to complete smaller projects\nand focus on strengthening community relationships. It is very rewarding to see\neveryone\u2019s hard work and efforts be recognized, and to bring more positive\nrecognition to our great community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Brown invited the entire airport team to witness the\nannouncement live and celebrate their accomplishment. The airport team also\nearned this prestigious recognition in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuma County Airport Authority\u2019s Board President Bill Craft\nshared \u201cWe are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of the airport\u2019s team,\nand of Gladys\u2019 leadership. Just as she has done here in Yuma, she worked her\nway up through the ranks of the organization, has built dynamic relationships\nwith the FAA, ADOT, airport executives and professionals, and has earned the respect\nof her peers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past years, Brown has held the roles as an\nExecutive Director, 2nd Vice President 1st<\/sup> Vice President, President\nand will remain a Past President within AzAA. She has been an active on AzAA\u2019s\nStrategic Business Plan, Policy Decisions, Ethics, By-Laws, Board Operating Policies\n& Guidelines, AZ Best Practices and Legislative committees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
