{"id":18373,"date":"2021-05-10T23:44:59","date_gmt":"2021-05-10T23:44:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18373"},"modified":"2021-05-10T23:45:01","modified_gmt":"2021-05-10T23:45:01","slug":"faa-adds-more-space-launch-activity-areas-to-pilot-navigation-charts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/faa-adds-more-space-launch-activity-areas-to-pilot-navigation-charts\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Adds More Space Launch Activity Areas to Pilot Navigation Charts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is increasing pilot safety and airspace awareness by marking more space launch activity areas on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/air_traffic\/flight_info\/aeronav\/digital_products\/vfr\/\">navigation charts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding space launch activity areas to the navigation charts\nused by pilots who fly visually responds to the recent and expected continued\ngrowth of commercial space operations. All 12 FAA-licensed spaceports, and\nother federal and private launch and reentry sites, are represented on the\ncharts by a rocket symbol. These areas are in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida,\nNew Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pilots can download the free charts and reference the FAA Aeronautical Chart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/air_traffic\/flight_info\/aeronav\/digital_products\/aero_guide\/\">User\u2019s Guide<\/a> for more information. In addition, the FAA encourages pilots to check the NOTAM database for any Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) issued to divert air traffic from where space operations are scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, the FAA licensed 41 commercial space launches and\nreentries, the most in the agency\u2019s history.
