A new concourse at Ronald Reagan Washington National\nAirport includes ADB SAFEGATE\u2019s gate solutions delivered by AERO BridgeWorks.\nThe 14-gate concourse is a key element of the airport\u2019s Project Journey\nconstruction program. The new gates are operated by American Airlines and\nfeature ADB SAFEGATE\u2019s Safedock Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System\n(A-VDGS) and SafeControl Apron Management. With this automated system, pilots\ncan park aircraft precisely and safely, even in adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADB SAFEGATE delivered 14 Safedock A-VDGS, which were\nconnected to American Airlines\u2019 existing SafeControl Apron Management (SAM)\nsolution to automate the docking process. SAM integrates with the airline\u2019s\nflight information system to share flight information with the A-VDGS prior to\narrival. Using the A-VDGS to track arrival and departure of aircraft at the\ngate, SAM provides accurate gate availability information to stakeholders, and\nsupports real-time assignment of gates to mitigate delays. The integrated\nsystem further streamlines the aircraft turn process with its Ramp Information\nDisplay System (RIDS) capability to deliver vital flight information and\nupdates to flight and ground crew via the Safedock display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Journey includes the new 14-gate concourse as\nwell as two new security checkpoint buildings at Reagan National. This major\nconstruction program is transforming the passenger experience by eliminating\nbus operations to 14 outdoor airline gates. Connecting the gates to the main\nterminal and converting existing pre-security areas into secured spaces\nimproves passenger flow between concourses and expands passenger access to\nairport amenities.
