{"id":18219,"date":"2021-04-20T13:02:26","date_gmt":"2021-04-20T13:02:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=18219"},"modified":"2021-04-20T13:02:28","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T13:02:28","slug":"gama-highlights-developments-of-aviation-manufacturing-jobs-protection-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/gama-highlights-developments-of-aviation-manufacturing-jobs-protection-program\/%20","title":{"rendered":"GAMA Highlights Developments of Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is encouraging eligible U.S. aviation manufacturers and maintenance businesses, whose workforces were impacted by the pandemic, to start preparing themselves for participation in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/AMJP\">Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection (AMJP) program.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s (DOT) $3 billion\nAMJP program will provide grants to retain, recall or rehire the workforces of\neligible aviation manufacturers and maintenance&nbsp;\nbusinesses, including their suppliers, during the pandemic. This temporary\nprogram requires a cost-sharing of 50 percent by employers and 50 percent by\nthe federal government and can only be used to support the compensation of\nthese workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DOT has indicated that it will soon be accepting applications for businesses to participate in the AMJP program and has created a website for applicants to monitor the status of the program. They are also encouraging eligible businesses, if they have not already done so, to apply now for a Data Universal Number Systems (DUNS) and to register online with the System of Award Management. Additionally, DOT recently published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2021\/04\/14\/2021-07468\/agency-request-for-emergency-approval-of-an-information-collection-of-information-associated-with\">Federal Register<\/a> notice describing the data that it anticipates collecting from companies in order to implement AMJP requirements during the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AMJP program was established as part of the American\nRescue Plan Act, which passed through Congress and was signed into law in\nMarch.
