The association also elevated\ntwo veteran leaders, Jo Damato and Doug Carr, to new positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Andrew-Broom-189x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18125\" width=\"125\" height=\"199\"\/><figcaption><em>Andrew Broom<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Broom joins NBAA from the Citation Jet Pilots Association\n(CJP), where he has been CEO since 2016. Under his leadership, the organization\nnearly doubled its membership while almost tripling its industry partnerships,\nexpanding its portfolio of member benefits, strengthening its advocacy\ninitiatives, and enhancing its world-class annual convention and regional\nevents. Under Broom\u2019s leadership, CJP also bolstered its safety focus, forming\nthe CJP Safety Committee and launching the CJP Safety and Education Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to his work at CJP, Broom held other leadership\npositions with general aviation companies and associations. He led worldwide\nmarketing and communications efforts for Honda Aircraft Company from 2012 to\n2016, during the launch of the HondaJet. He has also served as vice president\nof communications and outreach at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association\n(AOPA). Previously, he held positions with Hawker Beechcraft, Eclipse Aviation\nand the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Broom earned a BS in\nAeronautical Science and an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He\ncompleted flight training through Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument\nInstructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said, \u201cI\u2019m pleased to\nwelcome Andrew to the NBAA team. It will be a privilege to join my new\ncolleagues and serve the broad business aviation industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/JDamato2019-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18126\" width=\"167\" height=\"209\"\/><figcaption><em>Jo Damato <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA has also elevated Jo Damato, CAM, to the position of\nsenior vice president, education, training and workforce development. \u201cJo is\nextraordinary in attracting a diversity of individuals into our industry,\ncreating the kinds of tools and training they need to succeed, and generating a\nsense of community that is meaningful at a personal and professional level,\u201d\nsaid Bolen. \u201cI\u2019m excited that Jo and her team will build on the progress being\nmade in online learning, certification and community building.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her work at NBAA, Damato is active in a\nnumber of industry organizations, including Women in Aviation International,\nWomen in Corporate Aviation and her alma mater, the Florida Institute of\nTechnology. Last year, she was appointed to the Department of Transportation\u2019s\nYouth Access to American Jobs in Aviation Task Force as an aviation educational\nstakeholder representative. A current certified flight instructor and NBAA\nCertified Aviation Manager, Damato holds a single and multi-engine land\ninstrument rating and a commercial pilot certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/DcarrThumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18127\" width=\"164\" height=\"205\"\/><figcaption><em>Doug Carr<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA also announced that Doug Carr will now serve as senior\nvice president, safety, security, sustainability and international affairs.\n\u201cDoug is well-known in the United States and around the world for his expertise\nin business aviation safety, security and international operations,\u201d said\nBolen. \u201cHe has also been a tireless advocate for sustainability, particularly\nas it relates to Sustainable Aviation Fuel. During his tenure at NBAA, Doug has\nbeen a primary force in our success in regulatory issues before the Federal\nAviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration and Customs and\nBorder Protection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carr has represented business aviation interests before the\nInternational Civil Aviation Organization, and as part of several rulemaking\nefforts at the European Aviation Safety Agency, and as a member of numerous\naviation rulemaking advisory committees. He serves as the corporate secretary\nfor the International Business Aviation Council and is active with the\nU.S.-China Asian Cooperation Program. He is a member of the Aviation Advisory\nCommittee for Southern Illinois University, and serves on the board of\ndirectors for the National Gay Pilots Association. He is a commercial,\nmulti-engine, instrument-rated pilot and a certificated flight instructor.
