Mr. Elwell served as Deputy and Acting Administrator of the\nFederal Aviation Administration (FAA)from June 2017 to November 2020, where he\nwas responsible for the regulation and oversight of civil aviation within the\nU.S., as well as operation and development of the National Airspace System,\nincluding the safe integration of drones into the national airspace. Before\nbeing appointed deputy administrator, Mr. Elwell was a senior advisor to\nDepartment of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. During his tenure as deputy\nadministrator, Mr. Elwell served as Acting FAA Administrator from January 2018\nuntil August 2019. Lieutenant Colonel Elwell retired from military service as a\nCommand Pilot with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve, including\ncombat service during Operation Desert Storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
