After 21 years with the Aeronautics Division of the Mississippi Department of Transportation, Thomas (Tommy) M. Booth Jr., P.E. has set a retirement date of June 30th<\/sup>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always heard that if you do something you are\npassionate about, you will never work a day in your life.  That is so true,\u201d said Booth.  \u201cIt has been such a pleasure working with the\nairports in Mississippi over the past 21 years \u2013 fourteen of those as the\nAeronautics Director.\u201d  Booth said it has\nbeen a privilege to work side by side with airport consultants and the FAA to\nhelp communities with their airport projects over that time span. \u201cWe\u2019ve\naccomplished so much with our different funding programs to help the airports\nwith their capital improvements and maintenance projects,\u201d said Booth. \u201cIt was\ndefinitely a team effort.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booth has been involved in the aviation industry nationally\nas well, working through the National Association of State Aviation Officials\n(NASAO). \u201cWhat an incredible organization,\u201d said Booth. \u201cGreg Pecoraro and his\nteam are doing a fantastic job promoting aviation nationwide.\u201d Booth said the\nhighlight of his career was serving as NASAO\u2019s chairman in 2013. \u201cI learned so\nmuch from Henry O during that time,\u201d referring to the former NASAO president,\nHenry Ogrodzinski. \u201cI cherish the friendships made through the years, and\nhopefully, I will remain connected with NASAO in the future,\u201d said Booth. \u201cIf\nnot, I look forward to being a NASAO alum!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booth said he is giving some thought to his next steps, including\nthe possibility of working as an aviation consultant. If that happens, his desire\nwould be to continue working with airports, the states, and keeping his ties to\nNASAO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless, Booth says he will take some time off to enjoy\nhis jet ski this summer and catch up on categorizing thousands of aviation\nphotos he\u2019s taken over the years.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
