The\nfinancing complements a recently awarded grant from the Israel Innovation\nAuthority for a total of $9.3 million. The funds will be used to expand\nFlytrex\u2019s footprint across the U.S. and to continue to scale-up the company\u2019s\nproduction and R&amp;D capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The financing follows the company&#8217;s previous round in 2019,\nbringing total funding to $20.3 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flytrex-Walmartedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18001\" width=\"312\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flytrex-Walmartedit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flytrex-Walmartedit-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment comes in the wake of several significant\nmilestones for the on-demand drone delivery company. In September 2020, a\nbenchmark pilot project between Flytrex and Walmart was announced to deliver\nselect grocery and household essential items from Walmart stores in\nFayetteville, North Carolina using Flytrex\u2019s autonomous drone delivery service.\nPreviously, Flytrex \u2013 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic \u2013 launched a system\ndelivering necessities to residents of Grand Forks, North Dakota, helping\naddress the growing health crisis by keeping citizens in the safety of their\nown homes and reducing crowding and unnecessary contact at local stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our mission is to make widespread on-demand drone\ndelivery the rule rather than the exception \u2013 and this funding is a vote of\nconfidence from our investors that we are indeed on the way to making this a\nreality,&#8221; said Yariv Bash, CEO and Co-Founder of Flytrex. &#8220;Our\nsystems are in the final stages of receiving key certification from the Federal\nAviation Administration, helping us launch the drone delivery revolution across\nthe U.S.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since successfully launching the world\u2019s first fully\nautonomous urban drone delivery system in Reykjavik, Iceland in 2017, Flytrex\nhas been helping drive regulatory advances aimed at getting drone delivery off\nthe ground. Flytrex has been participating in the Federal Aviation\nAdministration\u2019s UAS Integration Pilot Program (IPP) since 2018 and was most\nrecently selected for the FAA\u2019s subsequent initiative, BEYOND to work with the\nKansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) as well as the North Carolina\nDepartment of Transportation (NCDOT) and the North Dakota Department of\nTransportation (NDDOT) to help tackle the remaining challenges of UAS\nintegration.
