{"id":17716,"date":"2021-02-15T21:32:06","date_gmt":"2021-02-15T21:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=17716"},"modified":"2021-02-15T21:32:09","modified_gmt":"2021-02-15T21:32:09","slug":"nata-calls-for-covid-19-travel-policy-based-on-reason-and-fact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nata-calls-for-covid-19-travel-policy-based-on-reason-and-fact\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NATA Calls for COVID-19 Travel Policy Based on Reason and Fact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) on behalf\nof its over 3,700 general aviation business members called upon Washington\nleaders to consider the low risk of virus transmission posed by the general aviation\nindustry when crafting policies on air travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a letter to the Biden Administration and Congressional\nand FAA leadership, NATA cited the general aviation industry\u2019s unique operating\nenvironment and heightened health safety protocols in its case against\n\u201cburdensome or undue policies, including domestic preflight COVID testing\nrequirements, that work to hinder an essential industry and cut important ties\nto the over 40 percent of the nation\u2019s population that is not served by the\nairlines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Association noted that because of the industry\u2019s\ncontrolled environment and increased safeguards, zero cases of COVID-19\ntransmission have been documented on Part 135 air charter flights. \u201cTravel on\nprivate or charter aircraft offers further risk protection: minimal touch\npoints, streamlined service without the inevitable crowds of large airports,\nand fellow passengers typically comprised of known entities \u2014 colleagues or\nfamily members included in common quarantine bubbles,\u201d the letter explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter also outlines the positive economic impact of\ngeneral aviation businesses and the local airports they support, which \u201cserve\nas vital lifelines for communities across the country \u2014 particularly in rural\nregions \u2014 by providing critical infrastructure for essential businesses and\ntheir employees, aiding in business and job growth, as well as supporting law\nenforcement, medical care, disaster relief, and firefighting. Most recently,\nPart 135 operators began transporting COVID-19 vaccines to remote communities,\na practice that has enormous potential to expedite the equitable distribution\nof these life-saving doses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, NATA stands by the national priority to mitigate\nthe spread of COVID-19 and has swiftly provided best practice resources,\nincluding Safety 1st Clean, to aviation businesses to protect their employees\nand customers. \u201cWe look forward to partnering with the Biden Administration on\nbest practices like these that have made general aviation one of the cleanest\nforms of travel in the COVID era,\u201d NATA said. \u201cThose practices, however, can\nand should be held in balance with a clear vision for America\u2019s future beyond\nthe pandemic, and that future must include the economic viability and stability\nof our general aviation infrastructure and the countless businesses it\nsupports.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) on behalf of its over 3,700 general aviation business members called upon Washington leaders to consider the low risk of virus transmission posed by the general aviation industry when crafting policies on air travel.
