<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"125\" height=\"150\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/frazier-michelle-125x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17614\"\/><figcaption><em>Michelle Frazier<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA safe, secure, efficient, and resilient aviation system is\nessential to our state\u2019s physical, economic, and social health.&nbsp; This report recognizes aviation as a driver\nof the economy, including economic recovery,\u201d said Michelle Frazier, Director\nof TDOT Aeronautics Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Economic Impact Study represents the 2019 annual\neconomic impact of the aviation system on the state\u2019s economy.&nbsp;&nbsp; Therefore, the study is a good\nrepresentation of the annual economic impact of the aviation system during a\nnon-pandemic world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study analyzed the economic impacts of on-airport\nactivities, off-airport activities, multiplier impacts, and freight\/cargo.&nbsp; Examples of on-airport activities include\neconomic impacts from business tenants, airport construction spending, and\nairport employment.&nbsp; Off-airport impacts\ninclude visitor spending.&nbsp; Visitor\nspending generated 69,965 jobs and $9 billion in business revenue to the state\nin 2019.&nbsp; Analysis found that\nfreight\/cargo impacts generated 82,357 jobs, and $19 billion in business\nrevenue.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTennessee&#8217;s 78 public-use airports are critical components\nof the state&#8217;s transportation network, linking and providing access to\nregional, national, and global transportation systems,\u201d said Clay Bright,\nCommissioner of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Aviation Economic Impact Study details the $40 billion\neconomic impact of aviation in Tennessee.&nbsp;\nAirports serve as a catalyst for people to conduct business, serve\nclients, and ship cargo.&nbsp;
