{"id":17578,"date":"2021-02-01T19:27:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-01T19:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=17578"},"modified":"2021-02-01T19:27:43","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T19:27:43","slug":"most-wanted-list-subject-of-march-ntsb-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/most-wanted-list-subject-of-march-ntsb-meeting\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Most Wanted List Subject of March NTSB Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Transportation Safety Board announced Monday\nits intent to hold a public board meeting March 9, 2021, 9:30 a.m. (EST) to\nfinalize its 2021 \u2013 2022 Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety\nImprovements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NTSB\u2019s Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety\nImprovements is a communication strategy through which the agency identifies\nits top safety improvements that when made will prevent accidents, reduce the\nnumber and severity of injuries, and save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NTSB previously held media briefings to roll out its\nMost Wanted List, however, in response to a GAO report calling for more\ntransparency in the development of the list, the NTSB opted to return to the\nboard meeting as one way to help stakeholders, advocacy partners,\nrecommendation recipients and the traveling public understand how and why the\n2021 \u2013 2022 list was created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom 1990 through 2010 the Most Wanted List was finalized\nduring board meetings,\u201d said Nicholas Worrell, Chief of the NTSB\u2019s Advocacy\nDivision. \u201cIn 2011 we reimagined the Most Wanted List and in 2012 we adopted an\nelectronic voting process for the board, which reduced the amount of time and\nresources necessary to develop the list. In 2018 the GAO audited the NTSB\u2019s\nprocess for determining the Most Wanted List and recommended we better document\nand communicate our decisions about the list. The return to holding a board\nmeeting to finalize the list reflects our commitment to those recommendations,\u201d\nsaid Worrell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In keeping with established federal and local social\ndistancing guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, while also\nensuring the NTSB\u2019s compliance with the Government in the Sunshine Act, the\nboard meeting for the Most Wanted List will be webcast to the public, with the\nboard members and NTSB staff meeting virtually.&nbsp;\nThere will be no physical gathering to facilitate the board meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 9:30\na.m., will be webcast only, there will not be a public gathering of NTSB staff\nor board members.
