{"id":17536,"date":"2021-01-25T21:21:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T21:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=17536"},"modified":"2021-01-25T21:21:55","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T21:21:55","slug":"state-aviation-officials-endorse-buttigieg-for-transportation-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/state-aviation-officials-endorse-buttigieg-for-transportation-secretary\/%20","title":{"rendered":"State Aviation Officials Endorse Buttigieg for Transportation Secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today, the National Association of State Aviation Officials\n(NASAO) sent a letter to the leaders of the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science\nand Transportation endorsing Pete Buttigieg to be Secretary of Transportation\nand encouraging his swift confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter, signed by Bobby Walston, NASAO Board Chair and\nDirector of the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Aviation Division and\nGreg Pecoraro, NASAO President stated, \u201cMayor Buttigieg will bring the vision\nand leadership to the role of Secretary that the Department of Transportation\nneeds. During his tenure in local government, Mayor Buttigieg demonstrated his\nability to build effective working partnerships across organizational boundaries\nto lead, drive and implement key strategic initiatives. As his national stature\nhas grown, he has demonstrated his ability to share his vision and inspire\nothers. We believe these attributes will serve him well in leading the U.S.\nDepartment of Transportation during this critical time for our nation\u2019s\nairports, airlines, and aviation-related businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost importantly,\u201d the letter continued, \u201che brings a\npractical understanding of the need for a close working relationship between\nfederal, state, and local partners. State aviation agencies maintain close working\nrelationships with the Federal Aviation Administration and USDOT to deliver\nsolutions for the national aviation system, and we look forward to a continuing\nthis strong partnership under Secretary-Designate Buttigieg\u2019s leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NASAO is the nationally recognized voice for the public\ninterest in aviation on behalf of the states and territories.
