The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and\nthe Northern Plains UAS Test Site (NPUASTS) are partnering with major players\nin the commercial UAS industry to execute the goals of the Federal Aviation\nAdministration\u2019s (FAA) BEYOND program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are incredibly excited to announce our partnerships with\nsuch innovative companies from within North Dakota and across the country,\u201d\nsaid NDDOT Director Bill Panos. \u201cPartnerships like this keep us at the cutting\nedge of UAS advancements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These partners include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Airspace Link, an FAA-approved UAS Service\nSupplier of Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC),\nfocused on meeting the needs of state and local governments and ensuring UAS\npilots can make informed decisions;<\/li>
  • Equinor, an energy company developing oil, gas,\nwind and solar energy in more than 30 countries, including a strong presence in\nNorth Dakota;<\/li>
  • iSight Drone Services, the first private UAS\ncompany in North Dakota, providing professional UAS operations, setting the bar\non scalable and mature operations management;<\/li>
  • Skydio, a leading U.S. manufacturer of\nautonomous, small UAS that use Artificial Intelligence to see and understand\ntheir surroundings and intelligently navigate complex environments for\nindustrial inspections and public safety;<\/li>
  • SkySkopes, a professional drone service provider\nbased in North Dakota that is focused on bringing innovative solutions to the\nenergy sector;<\/li>
  • Volansi, a commercial manufacturer and operator\nof vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) autonomous flight systems that is\nfocused on airworthiness and certification;<\/li>
  • Workhorse, an autonomous solutions provider\nsupporting airworthiness, certification, and operations support, primarily for\npackage delivery;<\/li>
  • Xcel Energy, leading organization using\nautonomous technologies in support of energy technologies and energy delivery.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    BEYOND aims to facilitate the successful integration of\nunmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones, into the National Airspace System,\nwith a particular focus on operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) of\nthe operator that are repeatable, scalable, and economically viable. These\nefforts will be bolstered by Vantis, North Dakota\u2019s UAS Network, which is\ndesigned to enable real-world BVLOS flights without extreme barriers to entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
