<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nAccording to the 2020-2029 CAE Pilot Demand Outlook,\nretirement and attrition are expected to continue to be a challenge for the\ncivil aviation industry as air travel recovers progressively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is expected to drive an acute demand for pilots,\nresulting in an estimated short-term need for approximately 27,000 new\nprofessional pilots starting in late 2021,\u201d says the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAE says age-based retirements, attrition and fleet growth\nof 11,000 additional business and commercial aircraft over the next decade will\nrestore long-term pilot demand. Pilots over 50 years of age represent 38% of\nthe total civil aviation pilot pool, and 3.8% of commercial pilots are expected\nto retire or leave the profession every year over the next 10 years, according\nto the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
