American Airlines announced today that Meghan Montana has\nbeen promoted to Vice President and Treasurer. In her expanded role, Montana\nwill be responsible for the airline\u2019s treasury activities, including corporate\nfinance, global banking and cash management, as well as fleet transactions,\nasset management, insurance and fuel procurement. She will report to American\u2019s\nChief Financial Officer Derek Kerr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montana succeeds Tom Weir, who has announced his\nretirement from American after 20 years with the company. Weir joined America\nWest Airlines in 2000 as Vice President and Treasurer and held the same\nposition at US Airways prior to its merger with American in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTom is one of the very best friends I\u2019ve ever had in\nthis business,\u201d said Kerr. \u201cHe is the preeminent aviation financier in the\nworld, as evidenced by the fact that he has put together well over $100 billion\nof financings and negotiated more than $50 billion of aircraft and engine\npurchases during his career. He has been a rock on the Finance team for 20\nyears and is the only treasurer I\u2019ve worked with during my time as CFO. I\u2019m\nthrilled for Tom that he gets to step away and enjoy a much-deserved\nretirement. He leaves big shoes to fill, but Meghan is up to the task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is part of a long-term transition plan for our\ntreasury team,\u201d added Kerr. \u201cTom has helped us develop his successor and we are\ngrateful to have found that person in Meghan. She has an outstanding reputation\nand terrific relationships in the banking world, which have benefited American\ngreatly this year. She\u2019s the perfect person to build on the work Tom has done\nas we continue to navigate these extraordinary times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montana joined American in 2018 as Managing Director and\nAssistant Treasurer. She has been instrumental in American\u2019s response to the\ncoronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, helping Weir arrange more than $20 billion in\nfinancing this year to strengthen American\u2019s financial position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to American, Montana was responsible for the North\nand South American Transportation and Aviation sector coverage efforts at\nStandard Chartered Bank, advising the bank\u2019s corporate clients across their\ncapital structure and treasury needs. Montana has more than a decade of Wall\nStreet experience leading and advising large corporate relationships at complex\nglobal institutions including Standard Chartered, as well as Deutsche Bank and\nthe Royal Bank of Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of Cleveland, she holds an MBA from New York\nUniversity\u2019s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from\nMiami University of Ohio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
