However, far fewer companies are\naiming to fully embrace the dream of the flying car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exception is PAL-V. This Dutch based team has secured\nregulatory approval for road use for their flying car, called Liberty. Every\nLiberty flight relies upon Trig\u2019s communication and surveillance products,\ninstalled in the cockpit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-V-bedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16960\" width=\"267\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-V-bedit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-V-bedit-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 267px) 100vw, 267px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Dingemanse CEO and Co-Founder at PAL-V said, \u201cThe\nPAL-V design team have produced a flying car that will achieve regulatory\napproval and be commercially viable. The Liberty offers the reality of genuine\n\u2018door-to-door\u2019 travel. This has been the dream of aviation for 100 years &#8211; in\nour view this in the ultimate freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAL-V selected Trig as their radio and transponder of\nchoice, Dingemanse said, \u201cTrig\u2019s lightweight and compact size together with\ntheir positive partnership, were key decision drivers for us. The Trig radio and\ntransponder are easy to use, have innovative features, all these were important\nfactors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each PAL-V is equipped with a Trig TT21 Mode S transponder\nand a TY91 compact radio, to provide enhanced visibility and occupant safety.\nPAL-V see their customer as the adventurous and entrepreneurial type.\nDingemanse said \u201cA person who values travel efficiency and wants to enjoy the\njourney will buy the Liberty. It will make hard to reach locations accessible.\nDriving from Geneva to Cannes, normally takes five and a half hours. But with a\nLiberty you can be at the beach within three hours.\u201d PAL-V also expects the\nLiberty will have a professional role, for Coast Guard, First Responder, and\nInspection flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-Vedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16961\" width=\"342\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-Vedit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PAL-Vedit-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On the road the PAL-V Liberty achieves 0-60mph in under 9 seconds,\nwith a top road speed of 100 mph. PAL-V claim it handles well and is stable in\ncorners and poor weather. In the air it can fly at 112 mph, with an effective\nrange of over 300 miles. The Liberty flies like a gyroplane, which PAL-V claim\nis one of the easiest and safest ways of flying. The recent achievement for the\nteam is regulatory approval for road use. However, the PAL-V proof of concept\nfirst flew on 6 March 2012, so the team already has extensive flight-test\nexperience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With great visibility and flying characteristics the PAL-V\nLiberty makes a London to Paris journey a reality. The price of Liberty starts\nat \u20ac 299K, with more expensive options available.
